Even though these antique goggles have been around for one hundred or more years, many remain in very good shape, even today. The main part that may be slightly damaged is usually the tie or the piece that extends behind the neck. This can sometimes be frayed or slightly damaged, but is often replaceable. If you're lucky, you can sometimes find the antique goggle and case set. Normally the cases haven't had quite the same amount of handling or wear and tear as the goggles themselves and they are usually still in fairly good condition.
Usually the term antique refers to items that are over 100 years old, as opposed to vintage or collectible items which were made much more recently than antique items. Just keep in mind that some Ebay sellers may use the term inaccurately, so the listings for antique goggles generally include listings for specs manufactured in both the 19th and 20th centuries.
